WOMEN AT WORK
May 29 – End of September 2025
Kunstverein Amrum, Nebel beach (DE)
“Some can hardly believe their eyes: Is that really… a uterus up there? It is. Complete with ovaries, as light blue as the Amrum summer sky where the striking flag is flying. But wait – the ovaries are clenched into fists and wearing red nail polish. If that isn’t a statement?! Feminist art on the beach of Nebel? ‘To me, it shows the strength of women,’ says a young woman to her mother, after they spot the uterus flag in the sky behind Café Knülle.”

WOMEN AT WORK makes the often-overlooked labor of women visible – then and now. Especially on Amrum, women’s work has long been essential to community life, yet rarely acknowledged. Since May six international artists each present a flag on this theme. Here Johann Michael Schober and I showed our collaborative work „Pussy Punch“.
Hurry up: The work is still up until its decay (by end of September or even October). These works fly along the beaches of Amrum – publicly, accessibly, and outside traditional institutions.
